Tbh, we should be learning from you. Congrats on the opportunity.
I would play to your strengths and approach it like a client conversation. What are the CEO’s key concerns, what is your outside-in perspective, at a high level, on what he/she should be thinking about in the next 1-2 years. Then the usual stuff about having 1 or 2 stories to tell about relevant high impact outcomes from past engagements. This is one area where you will probably be rusty, we are trained not to talk about our clients and let the consulting brand speak for us.
SA at Pwc w/ 8 years of total experience in a different industry. Top 10 MBA.
I'm worried I'm under-qualified, but recruiter assured me I was great fit and sure enough CEO requested the interview. They are looking for someone outside of their industry.
Pays 200/year + bonus with options to potentially spin off segments of the business.
Too good to be true?
What’s this recruiters name and does he have any gigs in SoCal?
Pwc, i think you could focus on four things : build your personal brand, what you bring to the table, how what you brings can fit new companion vision, and leadership skills. I think at that level the focus should be squarely on building up the pipeline, building teams, and leadership. This is just my take. I'm not a SVP so i dont even know how those minds operate haha
My first thought is that if you are at this level and asking this question, it is a moment to stop and think about what that indicates.
However, I would attack this by reading everything I can about the industry and competitors. Get financials, build out some spreadsheets, analyze everyone’s position and possible moves until you can dance through the numbers. You might not have all the data, but if you show up for the interview already steeped in the dynamics of the industry, it will be far more impressive than just having some really good questions to ask
Moved on to the second round!!!
Thankfully I don't have any visa concerns. US citizen.
I would suggest having some strong perspective on direction or strategy of the firm for both near and medium term as well as potential hurdles and solutions.
They need to be original, strong, and discussion provoking.
Good luck.
What everyone said plus be ready to speak about your M&A execution framework, and fp&a at high level. Also, figure out whose interviewing you. The more senior (e.g ceo) the more casual (fit questions), the more junior the more technical. Also, for such a fast growing company they might ask you strategic questions such as how would you allocate capital/resources.
Definitely do a deep dive on both, sounds like a sweet opportunity so prepare your ass off, you have an mba so you know what to do.
I would do some analysis on the industry. Know some of the threats. Have an hypothesis on potential shifts you can make to improve competitive position? Be prepared to have a conversation about the capabilities they plan to acquire in the M&As. Certainly get a feel for how they currently handle financial planning and be prepared to demonstrate your level of competency in this area.
Don’t forget to talk about the team make-up. They will be critical to helping you conduct capabilities assessments and executing.
Excited for you. Good luck
Nothing new to add, but sending good vibes your way!
Thanks M1. Great advice.

Pwc, do you want to think out loud? We can be your sounding board
