Thoughts on K&L Gates corporate department?
Additional Posts in Consulting Exit Opportunities
When is it best to leave consulting? Here's how I think about it.
First, are you enjoying it? If so, why leave (it can be a great life long career)?
Second, are you still learning fast? If not, you're missing out.
Last, what skills do most employers value? In my experience, this dictates 2 optimal jumping off points:
(a) 2-3 years in. Consulting "tool kit" is solid
(b) ~1-2 year into Manager. Employers value experience managing people.

I work at jpmorgan in a corporate strategy role, I’d say it’s 60% MBB, 20% tier 2 (Deloitte and Oliver Wyman mostly, one guy from PWC), and 20% home grown (ex bankers or people who started in strategy roles as an analysts). I came from tier-2, think I got paid a tiny bit less than MBB, but don’t feel discriminated against (I quickly proved myself and get some of the coolest projects / high year end ratings).
I think biggest issue with tier-2 people is very few work on true strategy (I did nothing but growth and CDD’s at mine, so wasn’t the case for me). Also most of the directors and MD’s are McKinsey and like to hire their own. I think they’d prefer to hire 100% MBB but luckily for me, most of the top talent is going into big tech now instead of finance.
No idea for F500, but multiple times more in FAANG.
At my company there’s 2 Deloitte people and 50+ MBB people. At another FAANG there are 4 Deloitte people and 90 MBB folks.
They also would give the MBB folks $10-20K more at the same level, since they know Deloitte pays significantly less than MBB.
T2 were treated the same as D folks.
MBB will have more exit opps than D
I mean yeah, not sure that it's as drastic as SA1 makes it seem. Know loads and loads of ex Deloitte folks at FAANG.
Totally understand, I guess i mostly answered according to my limited understanding of FAANG roles. Most people I see and the roles that ive been approached for are 'biz ops' but as you noted are product or BU specific. Had no idea there were more selective Corp roles
