Never leave FT to start freelancing. Start freelancing while full time.
I’m currently working as a freelancer. I’ve been doing it for over 15 years. Freelance is either feast or famine. Before you make the jump there are a few things to know: 1) Put at least six months of living expenses into savings. Some would say to set aside at least a year given how rocky our industry has been. 2) Know that getting your own health insurance is going to be a lot more expensive. I’m currently paying $1k per month. The premiums keep going up every year. 3) Make sure you have a good network to get freelance work. There’s a lot of competition. 4) Be mentally prepared for the famine times. It can really be a challenge on your wellbeing.
Spot on!
Not great. Wait til Trump’s giant economic experiment plays out a bit
Yeah, the freelance budgets are all being zeroed-out. I've been furloughed from 3 good gigs so far this year.
Isn’t 180LA essentially already all freelancers? Just stay there
So, you’re a gamer huh!
Freelancing while working full time is not wise because working full time will not allow you to do your full time job correctly and working full time will not allow u to work your full time correctly. It is a risky jump and I would suggest in a more ideal job market, to leave your full time job and start freelancing. I jave tried doing both and i can say that fully freelancing is better in terms if allocating the right time and doing the job right.
DON’T DO IT!

I lost one freelance gig because the agency needed to cut costs
