I (27F) just found my first grey hair. I’m too young for this and I’m quitting.

1) If you’re brunette, color it in with a sharpie. Spent many conference calls doing this. 2) 27 isn’t that bad for your first grey

That’s a good trick!

I haven’t noticed any grey hairs, but the eye circles and frown lines are practically carved into my face now…

PUT TIME IN STRESS MANAGEMENT. Try to adopt some perspective. None of this matters when the aliens come. Even if they don’t, none of us are THAT important. Take a deep breath, plug away, smoke some weed, and eat something horrible for you once in a while. God speed.

Honestly it’s because we don’t care that much. I still have some grays though because even soulless lawyers age. 27 is a perfectly normal age to see a first gray hair lol

like

First grey hair at 27? That's late...

I had the same reaction. On my way out. Your health is too important than any job. Good luck!

I’ve heard that too! And I’ve tried reframing it but haven’t been able to convince myself yet. 😂

31 and still haven’t seen one on my head, but I did get a white eyebrow hair and freaked

like

This happened to me and I was so alarmed and it was SO long

I turned 27 before I became a lawyer and definitely had at least one grey hair at that point haha

likefunny

Well I don’t even feel like a real adult yet, so this is problematic for me 😂

I had my first gray hair at 17. I’m 25 now and in second year of big law and I’ve probably got about 200 now

like

Same. Do not pluck it or they will multiply haha. I like to call them my natural highlights.

Haha it’ll be okay. I’ve noticed when my hair naturally lightens in the summer you can’t notice as much

like

Just noticed a few (turning 30 this summer). So it begins…

But honestly I think it looks kind of cool (I have black hair). I know society wants me to think otherwise but I’m keeping the grays.

I always tell my wife to stop coloring her hair and own it. It’s a good look.

Hello, I worked 1 year as a 'Senior Data Engineer' at 110k base. I then was offered and accepted a role as 'Service Manager' at 155k base where I worked another year. Just recently accepted a 'Data Engineer' job at 155k base but with a larger company (in theory with potential to grow).

I am a Google Certified Professional Data Engineer.

Should I be earning more?

Additional Posts in Big Law

Got staffed on an investigations matter and was asked to draft the letter. I added everything the senior associate said to and I still got a rewrite. I’m a mid level at a new firm, so I feel particularly awful about this. Feels like I’ll never be a good lawyer.

Struggling to get work at a free market firm after lateraling. I was very well liked at my prior firm and had high hours so really struggling to understand why folks don’t seem to want to come back to me with more work. For those at free market firms, how frequently do you have to ask for work? How do you typically ask? Just send partners emails asking if they have any deals for you? Thanks y’all.

How do you deal with a Midlevel who tells the partner you’ll cover for them, but gives you less than 24 hours notice they’ll be gone without asking if you can cover? Any Atomic Habit readers here? I’m brainstorming identity-based habits for two things I want to change:

Neither of these feel that helpful. Any one have suggestions for other identity-based goals that get at these changes I want to make?
