I was the worst. Even took course 3 times so bad I had to pay someone to do it. Years later I confessed to my boss. She said I thought you got very good at it. You will do much better. Great that you care. Good luck.
I mean no disrespect at all. I applaud you putting in the effort. And honestly, building slides as a creative isn’t really something we love doing. But it’s the bread and bread of our biz. Again, no disrespect but you shouldn’t be building slides. Always pass it to creative. Always. Always x3.
There are so many tiny things a creative sees as we build a deck that account folk wouldn’t even notice. Same goes for account. You guys are so skilled when it comes to getting the info onto the slides. Let us make it pretty for you.
The beauty of our industry is when account and creative can work in harmony. Lean on each other and that deck will look slick af AND make sense.
I’ll get a deck that an account person sends me with the note “I think I made this look pretty good, no need to touch any slides, just beautify the chart on slide 6 please”
9/10 times I need to go through every slide 😂
1000% and I'm sad OP works in a place where this is frowned upon. I always ask a creative to edit my sad slides, albeit they are assigned that work. I will help build an extensive skeleton and may even have suggestions. But we all have our own strengths!

If you’re able, use Figma or Canva. The templates are plentiful and look good.

Are you struggling with just technically how to format? There’s a bunch of YouTube tutorials. Hell, even TikTok.
Or you could ask a friendly creative to help you build a template. Get the wireframe of the typical slides you use most often and ask them to spice it up, that way you have something reusable.
