I am an SDE working at a startup with 4+ YoE. Over the years, I’ve built experience across real-time AI infrastructure, backend engineering, distributed systems, gRPC, REST, WebSockets, and low-latency system optimizations.

Lately, I feel like I’ve hit a plateau at my current position and am feeling stuck. I have started exploring, going deep into the AI domain, but there is a hesitation what if this is not for me.

So fellow SDEs, I would really like any type of advice regarding this.

How do referrals work?
If I get a referral from someone and I apply, then can I still reach out to a recruiter on LinkedIn expressing interest in the role? And do I let them know that I already applied? I’m sure they get tons of messages so what should I say so that it won’t be overlooked?Im currently unemployed and very eager to get an entry level position in either HR, Marketing, or Project/Program Coordinator in the tech field, so any advice is greatly appreciated.

Had an interview for an associate position at Citi. Interviewee was based in London and I’m in NYC. The only interview time that worked was 6am. I was barely functioning and feel like I truly messed up in my answers because I couldn’t not think clearly. I have another with the head of the division next week again at 6am (pre determined before this interview). It was also hard because the division’s core work is private enough that there was not much prep I could do beforehand. Tips?

I bought CER006 on Nov 21 with my current company email id and completed one certification. I am leaving my current organization and I still have 9+ months time left for CER006. My company says the s user id provided by them will get de-activated once I leave (in a week). I have not claimed the amount also. I am a Business Analyst
I worked in the same org for 5.5years and switched in march 2022. I was not allocated a project for 3 months hence changed the org and joined new in July 2022. Now its been 4 months and I am on bench here too with no project proposals coming in. Will it be a good option to go for another switch in comparatively secured organization considering current recession?
