If you need steady money, the higher base is safer. Tips look good on paper, but they vanish when it’s slow, overstaffed, or out of season. I always judge a job by what it pays on a dead Tuesday, not a slammed Saturday. If the tipped role only works when things are busy, it’s riskier, period.
Yeah I think so too! Not always guaranteed the tips!

The higher base would be better as long as it’s enough for your expenses.
Yeah you’re right I think!
Agree with the above. If you need the money, go with the higher base. You have no way of knowing what the tip pooling will end up looking like. Unless there's something else that makes the tipped role more compelling, I'd go with the sure thing.
For definite I think you’re right!
The only benefit for me of working in food service is the tips. Working as a waitress in an hourly role is just way too much work and effort, in my opinion. I would certainly want to see what the tip pooling looks like and have some specific questions about who is included in that and at what percentage.
Yeah however not sure how it would work out without a consistent amount definitely with bills etc
That’s tricky. Because I would say take the tipped position. But that tip pulling has me nervous. Especially when you consider how tight people are going to be with the money going into the new year. Is the tip pooling based on total sales or total tips brought in? If it’s based on total sales, I probably wouldn’t do it because then if you don’t get tipped or get under t on those sales, you still have to tip out.
I agree! It really does especially around January-march time tipping isn’t quite so often depending where you are

Higher base salary. The money is guaranteed..
For definite. Guarantee is better than no guarantee!
