Programmatic is a lot easier than people on the outside make it to be. There are plenty of resources available (YouTube videos and free courses). I would start with Google’s Skillshop - https://skillshop.exceedlms.com/student/catalog
The Trade Desk is one of most intuitive yet complex DSPs. Once you learn that, you’ll be able to quickly navigate and trade on other platforms as well.
If using the Google stack, get certified in DV360, CM360, and GA360 in skillshop. Then read through as many Google help articles as you can stomach. Use Feedly to stay up to date on industry trends
The entry level jobs are usually called Paid Media, Programmatic, or Media Buyer Associate/Executive. A lot of companies will teach you programmatic and most employees I’ve seen with those titles have no programmatic experience
From there, you can quickly level up in an agency environment and be a manager within 2 - 3 years making six figures
Definitely start working on your excel skills. Start looking up YouTube tutorials on how to pivot, VLookup, Sumif formulas….it definitely helps. TradeDesk is one of the more user friendly DSPs with a clean UI for me.
Strong this. Knowing basic / intermediate excel formulas is essential.
I recommend becoming familiar with the following:
VLookup
Index Match
Sum If
If
And
Or
Pivot Tables
Tables
LinkedIn Learning is also a great resource
Putting this out there just incase yourself or someone needs the resource, The Trade Desk has free training courses called The Edge Academy. It’s been super helpful for our employees: https://www.thetradedesk.com/us/edge-academy
