What are poly pipes? Never heard of before.
If seller is giving a discount, get them replaced before you move in - bc they have to open walls and ceilings, it’s a mess.
I moved into an older house that still had about 40% of the pipes being galvanized steel original to house from the 1930’s. I got some quotes and ripped it all out from the basement up to the second floor. Put in pex. Cost about $9K but totally worth it.
I was under the impression that poly pipes were what you replaced copper with when rehabbing. 🤔 I'm also not aware of them being a real problem
Ah, PEX is what I was thinking of, not poly
Polybutylene pipes, they are replaced with copper or pex pipes
What are you going to replace them with?
Pex i believe
Insurers will not insure a home that has it or excludes flood from policy

Id get quotes to replace. If seller is willing to offer concessions to replace, great! If the home is in a competitive market, the seller can get another offer and you’d lose the home.
How old are the pipes? They last over a decade normally without any issues
Coach
If replacing, use pex
