I believe I was targeted as a paralegal at a top 5 big law firm. There were fake quotas just for me, new policies only enforced on me, and invasive questions about the status of my parents citizenship and religion asked only of me. I was given one hour to decide between termination or resignation based on accusations of poor performance and billing discrepancies. I chose to be terminated as resignation felt like an admission of guilt. Is there anyway to sue? How cooked is my big law career?

Id ask a plaintiff side employment lawyer about suing. No idea

As for big law -- good paralegals are always in high demand. Im sure you can find another job

Most firms won’t look that closely at your work history prior to law school. Your most recent firm may be closed off though.

like

Please discuss your situation in detail with an employment attorney who only represents plaintiffs. There is a doctrine of constructive termination that may apply.

Do you still have access to your emails?

Unfortunately, law firms violate employment laws more often than one may expect. Typically, your attorney would negotiate with the firm to settle your case without having to sue in open court.

Try calling Sanford Heisler and Outten & Golden. These firms have experience going up against law firms. You should be able to retain them on an hourly basis to provide advice and counsel on how to handle this.

Make a chronology of what led to the termination, and all inappropriate comments and behavior you experienced or observed. Also make a list of all positive feedback and reviews you received.

Ideally, the matter will settle without any filing in court. Any settlement agreement will have a confidentiality provision protecting you and the law firm.

If you are the target of discrimination, I don’t see why this would be held against you during the Character & Fitness evaluation.

I literally have no idea what any of that means

I’m a second year in general litigation. I’ve been drafting briefs, memos, letters, motions, etc. but I’m getting the documents back with a lot of redline. From what I see, majority of my research, thoughts, and substance is there but it doesn’t feel good seeing all those redlines. Is it normal to see all those redlines or am I doing something wrong?

Any Atomic Habit readers here? I’m brainstorming identity-based habits for two things I want to change:

-I want to bill more hours, so my goal is to become the type of person who bills at least 8 a day
-I want to drink less alcohol, so my goal is to become the type of person who drinks occasionally

Neither of these feel that helpful. Any one have suggestions for other identity-based goals that get at these changes I want to make?
