Could anyone kindly tell me about the Investment Management and Private Equity Audit Group at Deloitte? 1. Work Life Balance (Is it worst than the ordinary Big 4 WLB?) 2. Is it an entirely different audit from commercial/retail audits (think account balances etc.) 3. Difficult to learn how to audit clients in this industry without prior experience in the industry?(been doing commercial audits for 3 years) 4. Are there relatively good exit opportunities for this audit group? Deloitte PwC EY

I never intended to stay in healthcare, but I really like what I do. I’m a senior business analyst (my bachelors is in Econ). I started out working in Patient Experience and had a really great director who recommended me for the analyst role.
If you work for a larger system, look for internal roles where your degree and experience could be applicable and apply. Sometimes it just takes someone else getting your name out.
WOW! I have an Econ bachelors too, so Happy for you!! I have been working in this Medical practice for 7 yrs as an MA and they haven't give me the opportunity to jump for a better position, time for me to move on to a better practice.
Not sure where you live/work, but I'm a Direct Support Professional for Exceptional Foresters Inc in Washington State and earn almost $24/hr, and the company I work for is almost perpetually short staff and has shifts open for overtime...last year I averaged 56hrs a week (only working 4days/wk on average) I grossed $76k. As a single person with no children...I was able to take a 1st Class Disney Cruise and go on several mini-vacations throughout 2023, and this year, I will have taken 2 Disneyland vacations (5 days, both trips), a 7-Night Disney Cruise to Alaska, and getting married later in September.
Understandablely, some may not think now is a good time to switch lines of work, but if you pick something that needs workers (and we have, desperately, ever since the vaccine was mandated in our state) and you have at least some experience with, you should be able to find something.
I have coworkers who left their jobs at Nursing Homes, Social Services, Hospitals, etc, because they were burnt out for one reason or another...if you're burnt out, and no amount of rest is helping (if you can even manage to afford to take a break), I'd definitely recommend making a change.
Exceptional Forestors Inc (EFI) was founded in and is exclusively operated in Washington State...however...Direct Support Professional positions are everywhere.
Sometimes as live-in assistance. Sometimes it's a day program to get them social interactions and their family some respite. Sometimes it's like EFI where they are individuals living separately from their families with or without housemates, and receive anywhere from 4hrs to 24hrs of support daily.
It's not a great time to be trying to make a move, that's true. The job market is strange, a lot of employers seem to be afraid to hire anyone at present. Might be good to hang on to the job you've got while putting out feelers and trying to hunt down something better. You've surely got transferable skills to move to something else within the realm of healthcare.
Hi! You have many areas of healthcare to explore! If you enjoy the business of medicine, billing, coding and compliance is filled with variety and challenges. Practice management can be really satisfying as well as hospital administration.
There are numerous medical software companies always looking for support, implementation, sales and client success positions.
Business Analysts are also an important resource to healthcare professionals. Data analytics isn’t going away and needs this talent to decipher and analyze data.
See? Already new opportunities to consider!
Try to transition into a manager role. I transitioned 12 years ago from a medical assistant to a practice manager and it was the best thing I have ever done.
what are some of the skills you think are vital for a manager role? i’ve applied for some practice manager positions but i don’t have the requirements they’re looking for :,)
Have you tried applying for positions at your local hospitals? My daughter worked at a compound pharmacy right out of school as a pharmacy technician for two years. She then started applying for hospitals. The interview went well and she was hired a couple days later. She went from $23/hr to $38/hr. Now she’s at $43/hr. as the head Pharmacy Technician. Most hospitals pay by experience in California.
Why don't you look into Healthcare administration jobs? Or health integrity specialist?
i’ve looked into that as well. a lot of what interests requires me going back to school if i want to be stable. i can’t bear the thought of going back to school but i’m going to lay out my options
Rising Star
Do you know what kind of computer based job you want and in what part of healthcare you want to work? I mean, a lot of jobs require computers.
i’ve been looking at clinical/health informatics. i’m taking some courses on basic entry level data analytics and trying to look at job requirements to see what skills i need to have. i’ve been doing some research on the field and talked to a few people but people are saying the field is over saturated and the competition is very high :/ i’ll still keep looking because i don’t want to be discouraged but the requirements look a little intimidating
I'm in a similar position where I'm a nursing Assistant and the pay is too low especially due to inflation. Just keep your resume out there and keep an eye out. I understand your frustration!
OP roles like that (sadly) are generally low paying anywhere you go. But the good news is there are so many positions in healthcare that you can do, you don't have to leave the healthcare field. I would look at Universal Health Systems and see if they have any open roles that might be a good fit for you. I work for them and they are a really great company to work for.
I’m in the same boat. I’ve been an MA for 20 years and I’m burnt out. I’m finishing my bachelors in HIM in two months and I will then test for the RHIA credentia. I’ve already got a bachelors in psychology. Unfortunately, I have been searching for a new role for well over a year. I continue to find the requirement of an RN and this confuses me within health information roles. I absolutely will not get an RN degree for information management, that’s craziness to me. Apparently that license holds more leverage that the 20 years of clinical experience I’ve got 🤷♀️

This is a remote outwork posted for Shriners Children's. No RN requirements.
I was an MA for a year out of college and it took me 8 months to finally land a job as a Medical Device Specialist. It was the only job that had me for a final interview. I had been looking at research but it’s just been brutal. I would say that September through the beginning of the year is most likely so keep throwing your interview at positions that interest you.
Check out shriners hospitals for children. They have quit a list of openings all over the US and Canada. You can even select remote to find home based jobs with zero patient interaction.
Also, I started our as an MA and now I've been in the healthcare compliance field for 8 years. Pay is great, I get to use my healthcare knowledge and I don't have to deal with patients.
Look Into Radiology! it has the tech part but you also have patient care as well!
Your bachelor's is in public health? Would you want to work for county or state government? I would look into that if I were you, I think.
Sounds good. Where are you located? And can I apply through the page? Or how to know if they have available positions?
Have you thought about getting your RN degree on line? I am sure you have enough college credits to do really quick RN on line course. Basically just your clinicals
Unfortunately I really do understand the field is not rewarding or appreciative anymore the days of being appreciated are long gone have you looked into medical coding?
How about working for a medical insurance company and do case management or prior authorization regarding diagnosis testing. I think they pay better than a medical assistant. I hope that helps you out for some ideas.
I'd advise against that if you have any soul left. You'll likely have metrics like "The 30 Second Case Review," which you will be expected to reject out of hand. Insurance companies are not in the business of paying out claims. Do you want to be the one to auto-reject potentially life-saving treatment for total strangers who never did anything to you? This is the stuff nightmares are made of.
What about medical coding?
