Where are you located? That's about what they pay where I'm located but I've noticed that if you change employers that will increase. Even if you leave just to come back you'll probably be at a higher pay. Talk to HR maybe.
You should be making $20/hour minimum for an introductory position. With your experience you should be making more than that
This is criminal. Change jobs
I’ve been an MA for 24 years total, with my current employer for 18 years. I make 25.82 an hour. That’s the most in this area. Median seems to be in the 17-18 range
I live in Chicago suburbs making $23.50 an hour as a certified medical assistant FP ,going on 7 years. Entry level CMA’s staring at $20 an hour where I work. Median pay is $26-27 per. Hour .
Market value for this role is $18 starting, $23 (mid), $28 (max). It depends on where you are located and what company. You need to apply around and maybe leverage your new job offer to increase. But with 18.50 after ten years - have you been with the company for 10 years? Usually you can expect the larger companies to give some kind of .50 raise annually.
I am telling you the best thing to do is to look for another job - with ten years exp you are looking at $23-24 minimum. FYI they will never change your pay unless you ask for it.
I make 60k/year as a CMA with 5 years of experience, working for a nonprofit hospital.
I’m located in SC. Anyone in SC?
It’s on the lower side with 10 years of experience. If you like what you do then you should try looking into other companies. When I was an MA it took 3 years as a CMA to make a little more than your current pay.
In California, that’s literally the starter pay. There also shouldve been an annual raise
What is the current market paying for 6 years current experience as a registered medical assistant and am no recertified through December 2025?
I am now recertified through December 2025.
I've been an MA for 3 years and managed to negotiate pay to $27. Then again, I am in a HCOL area in Washington State, so it may differ greatly in comparison to LCOL areas.
After 10 years, you should be making way more ! I am in Chicago and am making atleast $22 after 5 years as a CMA.
It might depend on where you live, but 10 years is a decent amount of experience.
Personally, as others have mentioned, I recommend finding another job where the pay at least matches the job position/experience. I am looking for a different position, probably project coordinating/managing because I can’t seem to get decent raises.
Recent graduate of an MA program and with no experience I was offered $20/hr starting out. This is in Atlanta
About the same here in Central Virginia
Depending polish your resume and start looking else where. I worked for a private practice for 10 years and only made between $12-15 hr. In which I had management responsibilities. Went with a major company and started my salary negotiation. Currently I am making 25.50.
Where is everyone from?
I think cost of living makes a difference. I’ve heard that SC generally pays lower for healthcare positions.
That sounds about right. You’re never going to make as much as a nurse. All you’re doing is rooming patients and taking vitals.
I hope this registered nurse never gets into leadership. I am the only MA for my doctor, we don’t have a nurse and I work at a big university hospital. Please read up on how much an MA actually does in a heath care setting. There will be a time your in a pinch and I hope there’s a MA to help you and it opens your small minded eyes <3
