It seems like some tools demand significant development efforts and a steep learning curve just to circumvent coding, yet they aren't necessarily straightforward to grasp and may still involve some coding. It gets to a point that isn’t it just better to learn how to build an LWC that is much more robust and flexible? Or yes just use a screen flow.
It's because it was originally part of the velocity acquisition. Velocity built this complex functionality to make advanced flow style pages before LWCs and Flows, then when SF bought them they rebranded it to Omnistudio and also merged other velocity functionality into their various industry clouds.
Omnistudio is not fit for admins today IMO, and many SF Devs don't want to touch it either. I think it is best aimed at today at non SF familiar devs... I.e. people who know JSON, CSS etc but don't know SF that well
It compiles to LWC
I just finished the self study training and a project where it was used by others. I thought it would be easier. The flex card UI is the best feature. The passing of json data is very tricky and beyond most admins. The editor provides almost no code validation it’s easy to make a typo. Everything it does could be built in normal Salesforce with a senior developer. In fact, it generates the code under the hood. Seems like a solution looking for a problem. It’s a niche skill set which would be hard to maintain long term.
