I feel like the people who actually get the work done are the last ones to get promoted. It feels like those group projects in high school where one person would do all the work and the rest of the group would screw around, not contribute, and get an easy grade. Thoughts on this? How do you ensure that your the one to capitalize on YOUR hard work?

Leave bugs in code that only you can fix 🤪

Just kidding! Do your due diligence before you start your job that you are getting paid very very handsomely so that ‘recognition’ doesn’t really matter for at least a couple years. By that time build a reputation and pattern of being the MVP. After that time if you aren’t heard and acknowledged when you ask for a promotion , then leave. Churn and burn.

Moms with a Doona stroller - is that your only stroller? If you have another which one and why? What did you transition to after that? I get its limited lifespan but I wanted to know 1) do you need an alternate for other situations in year one eg long walks, 2) what did you transition to after having skipped the infant phase, 3) any other things to be aware of? Thanks!

What holiday party did you get?
Anyone living close to an office, got a holiday party with food and drinks, and the venue started open for them until around midnight. Our remote workers got a one hour party w a DJ and trivia that let you win gift cards. Yeah it was nice to win a gift card but I found it lame in comparison to hanging out with my team in real life.

Has your company stated anything about training in-person employees to better work with and include remote team members as your company goes back to having some employees in office? Mine says they will but I’ll still a little worried.

How are folks handling the address on your business cards? I recently took my first officially remote position. I'm in the same region as one of the company offices, but not especially close and not officially associated with it.

Are folks just not putting an address on their cards? Nearest office address? Company HQ address?

Have people been doing more or less work with personal projects since working from home? I feel like it’s been harder to keep motived to work on my side projects since starting a permanently remote position.
