There is no such thing as a flawless applicant, good luck to them! If it’s any consolation, they would have been a nightmare employer with that attitude.
Using em dashes as an excuse not to hire in the conflicts stage is wild.
That being said, I doubt that they'd have taken you that far to reject you for being black. They'd have found some excuse from one of those interviews to do so. This sounds like they over hired or are reducing their workforce generally and needed an excuse not to move forward with the hiring process. Maybe they thought the issue would resolve itself in conflicts and when it didn't they had to make up some excuse

So I’m a PoC and in Biglaw. There are biases—that is true. Many times we are the last to be hired and the first to be fired. However, which group were you interviewing for? M&A has been doing poorly with Trump’s tariffs, so it would make sense for a firm to give you a BS excuse not to hire you if that was the group. It’s been super slow in the M&A groups and tech groups—at least at my firm.
That’s insane. But why big law? Maybe go to a form where you’ll be appreciated. I’ve been in small-medium sized firms my entire career and have no regrets.
