I got a 6% raise last month, but still feel broke. My bills went up more than that, and I'm doing way more work than last year. Is this normal? I always thought a raise should actually feel like something. Will raises always just be about keeping up with everything else getting more expensive?

I remember when a raise actually meant you could treat yourself a little or save more. Now it's like cool, that covers the electric bill increase. It used to feel motivating. Lately, it feels like running on a treadmill.

Yes I had to get a title change with a 11k increase in salary to really see take home pay increase.

Yeah, I think so if you’re not a high performer.

I got 4% and that was better than average for our back office support folks

My latest increase felt like a raise, as everything I could control (mortgage, car payment, phone, utility usage) stayed essentially the same. Yes, food and insurance went up, but at least food allows me to change my buying habits. I also cut the cord on my cable when I changed internet providers, which offset the food increases. What adjustments can you make to reduce costs, which will make the raise feel like a raise.

I would love to get a 6% raise. Most of my annual merit raises about been around 2.5-3.5% in recent years.

Only time I have gotten more than that is when I actually got a promotion.

We have cut some of our memberships and subscriptions. Luckily we don't have credit card debt or car payments, and that helps.

Hi,
My current company is going out of business next week. I am rushing to get my next job lined up (probably won’t happen in time but I’m trying my best). My question is: should I be honest about why I’m looking for a new job? Is it wrong to not share this info during my interviews? Is this situation going to affect my interview process somehow? Please share your thoughts and wisdom! Thanks!

Has anyone heard of graduate programs for studying blockchain either directly or as a focus of some other program? I’ve seen university of Malta has a program that can be tailored between IT, Business, or Law. But I’m worried it may be a bit too specific.

I’m a second year associate at a small, but reputable firm. My caseload is almost entirely made up of clients who were referred to one of the partners but the partners are too busy so I end up taking the case. The clients are told up front that an associate, rather than a partner will be taking his/her case. I’ve run into an issue a couple of times where the client doubts my advice because I am only 2 years in. Has anyone else experienced this? How do I address the fact that I’m only 2 years in?
