It'd be a red flag for me. Albeit one that I would completely ignore if I was out of work. There might be a reasonable explanation for their hastiness, but I can't think of one off the top of my head. I'd worry that I was diving headfirst into chaos/dysfunction if I accepted.
I once turned in an application & was told I was the 50th applicant, but they wanted to interview me, at noon, because of my qualifications and they were ready to make a decision. I needed a job. At the end of the interview he asked if I had any questions. Ii said”what do I need to do, to get the position”. He grinned and said “you have the position”. I went on to become the manager. If you need the job & like the environment, take the job & become their best employee.
That would be a red flag for me as well. That honestly just screams desperation. But if you need a job, you might consider taking it. This is a really tough job market to be looking for a role in.
Yeah it really is!
It can be both! The quick offers I’ve had in retail actually ended up in decent jobs I held for a long time. However, for a couple of non-retail jobs, that happened to me…and after just the 1st week I could see why they had such bad turnover. I would be wary; however, there’s nothing wrong with taking the job and if you don’t like it then be quick about finding yourself a new job on the side...don’t wait to get let go like I did lol.
Yeah maybe it can be!
Do you have a lot of experience in the position offered or with the brand already? My last 2 offers before my offer today were a 2 day wait before getting back to me, however, i turned them both down. The pay did not match the expectations for me to accept. However, i got an offer today while still in the interview and accepted immediately. Albeit, it was with a brand I've worked for the last 3 years, but a franchise location instead of corporate. The Regional Manager was impressed with how quickly I moved up the ranks and said she offered on the spot because she really enjoyed our interview and didnt want me to get away, as well as offered more than what I originally asked for pay wise. She answered my questions about the store dynamics and also offered a potential General Manager position 3 hours away if I wanted to relocate but was honest in that district was a mess and needed a lot of help & work put in to it. I dont think its always necessarily a bad thing to be offered on the spot, maybe they were really impressed with you, maybe they desperately need help and believe you could help get things where they need to be. You can always ask them about the stability in their positions and turnover rates, or even why do most employees leave this company. I would if I was doubtful. The job market is insane right now though, so if its a good offer, I personally would accept it but not stop my job search as a plan B. You can always find another job, its just a question of how quickly! At least you would have a buffer by accepting it if you're in desperate need of a job currently.
Yes, its a red flag, but how desperate are you as well?? I regret turning down a red flag because how im 6 weeks out and not anotger offer from 5 other interviews..
Oh wow, yeah that’s rubbish!

Red flag. Happened to me, should have known but his sight is 20/20. I was also in need of a job. So, there’s that. It’s not quite the job market to be picky, for applicants at least. You’d think they had the room to be more picky since there’s usually a flood of applicants for every job 🤔. If a company is desperate in this job market, it’s a red flag for sure.
Oh dear! You would think so!!

Same day offers can go either way. Sometimes it just means you interviewed well and they needed someone fast. Other times it signals urgency tied to turnover. I would look at how organized the process felt overall to judge it.
Yeah of course. I guess it’s not all that bad!
Rising Star
Could be either. Sometimes it just means you interviewed well and they didn’t want to lose you, especially in fast moving retail. But if it felt rushed or they skipped details about training, schedule, or expectations, that can hint at high turnover. I’d trust your gut and ask a couple of follow up questions before deciding.
That’s very true!
Oh that’s rubbish Nordstrom!
Interviews can read people sometimes and they just know it’s someone to hire
I would ask, "hows the turn over?"...
Or.. better...
"How long has your longest employee been here?"
You can't really assume a quick offer is bad; if you have a full resume it can actually mean that you are a fit.
I would not leave it to assumption; that is a question for interview.
