I got an offer from a Big 4 firm, but the pay is lower than I expected. The recruiter says the salary is the same for everyone and can't be changed. Is that true, or do most people ask for more?

If you already have a few years experience beforehand then you could absolutely try to negotiate your pay. But straight out of college? You’re lucky to get into a Big 4. Stay there for a few years and explore more options after that.

Straight out of college? You could try but I think it is what it is. Anything else, absolutely try.

Straight out of college no chance. Absolute best case maybe can negotiate the signing bonus. Were you expecting a lot? Big4 is definitely not known for paying well early in your career, though you will get good raises and generally outpace those who are at smaller firms

You can thank all of the noise about the gender gap. If you pay everybody the same there is no gap.

Several years ago PwC significantly tightened the pay bands. Base pay is based on the local market, role, level and years at that level. There is little variation within the band. Bonuses are based on performance.

Fellow enterprise tech sales fish, I’m interested to hear your perspective. I’ve been in a rut lately and seriously considering leaving sales. I think it’s primarily fueled by one thing:
After a 6 mo cycle I closed a large deal (4x the average deal size) prior to receiving delayed 2022 comp plans. The deal counts as a 2022 deal. On last years comp plan it would’ve paid out at 10%. This year it pays out at a measly 4%.

How do you/have you navigated your way through and out of these situations?

Hi. I have applied for a job in an academic setting for a leadership role in cancer research. Duties would have me responsible for a small team of research nurses as well as other managerial duties for the department. I have been a research nurse for 3 years now, but I have no experience applying for a salaried position or a role in leadership. What sort of salary would be appropriate to ask for? I know that I should aim high and let them counter, but how high exactly? Thanks I’m advance
