I got laid off by the government in September 2024, rehired in October 2024, then laid off due to the new Administration cut backs. It has been exhausting and mostly very depressing. I have strong credentials, and educational background. 2nd interviews are rare and when I get a denial it's mostly they moved on with an internal candidate. Some employers don't even send a message.
I am trying to keep my head straight by sticking to my faith but it's a real struggle.

Our annual reviews are approaching & one of my direct reports has been with us for almost six years w/ little growth. My reco was to let him go & find a stronger, hungrier & more motivated designer at the same level. However, my boss instead wants us to promote him in hopes that will spark some motivation.
