I am looking to transition into a product management role with less than 3 years of work experience, none that relates to PM (Operations at Amazon, current:sales). How do I better my chances for PM?

My position in sales, growing existing accounts with my company, is being eliminated in October. I either take a bit of a pay cut to do something really similar but more stable on the service side, or move to new business (which is not attractive to me), or I find something new. Is it fair they are having me interview just to basically keep my position after 7 years of doing it successfully meeting targets? Or is it time for me to look elsewhere?

I've been there almost 6 years and am now a board member and an Executive Director. I'm being paid an hourly based salary.. Less than 40k per year. I am going to be starting a job working in an academic laboratory at a school in Western NY as a lab tech, and was offered 32k salary. I have a BS in Med lab science and have been working in clinical research for the past three years since school. Negotiating them to go higher has not been very successful so I’m hoping to get a sense whether this is a fair salary for my experience?
