Yes, but rarely as blunt as that. Most of the time it's couched in questions about the companies health, layoff rumors and the like. Things have certainly become a bit less rigid in interviews, but it's still rare to have someone cut right to the chase like that. I'm kind of impressed by the hubris.

I was struck by the directness too. Part of me respected it. It tells me candidates are weighing risk more consciously now. I think transparency matters more than polish in this market. People are trying to protect their stability, not just their progression.
I've heard that not just from candidates but from people who have worked here for a while. You can't turn on the news without hearing about layoffs. So it's inevitable that people would be concerned about job security.

That mirrors what I am hearing internally as well. It is not just candidates anymore, it is existing staff quietly scanning for signals. The external noise about layoffs has changed the emotional tone of work conversations. Security feels front of mind.
