Consider a furlough. It is essentially a temporary, if indefinite, layoff but the employer could pay the employer portion of health insurance if it is able. This will still allow the employees to receive unemployment in most states.

Good people. Treat employees like family. Dreading having to take this step. Trying to prepare just in case.

Thanks for the response. I'll pass that along in case the company gets to that point.

If they are contemplating taking the next step they should be preparing the demograpgics of the 20-25 employees to avoid perception of discrimination. They may also want to consider offering voluntary separation prior to the selection of the 20-25 employees.

Hi Fishes,
I've been offered for Engineering expert position at Novartis India. I've received offer letter 2 weeks back and my DOJ is updated to Mid December. I told the HR that my current company's last working day is on mid January and resend the offer letter with mid Jan as my DOJ. But they told that they can send the revised offer letter 3 weeks before the joining date.
Is this normal process? Has anyone gone through similar experience?

Been with my GF since college and we recently hit the 4 year mark. 1-2 years into our relationship I found out she had instances of micro-cheating (flirting with guys, talking to ex’s etc - but nothing physical) and we addressed it. To her credit and my knowledge, she’s been apologetic and great at respecting boundaries since, but I still feel the pain from her actions years ago (and have talked to her about it). Feeling lost about whether to just leave or to try and work things out
