No, you don't need to turn it down. Unless you are in Massachusetts, you prob have to either give it to them or find a clever way to evade the question for as long as possible unless you don't actually want the job.
Btw, congrats!
I might have embellished my current salary by $5k
Don't give them your pay stub. It is none of their business how much a former employer paid. They should be focusing on what the job is worth - not what some other company paid you.
Just say that 5k you said was bonuses 👌🏻
I saw three former colleagues do it and walk away pretty
Yeah, cool law, right? Hope it goes national at some point.
Agree with A3.
If they keep pushing, just say "about tree fiddy"
PwC, trust me I worked internal HR for awhile, i can, with an authorization, get your w2 via equitable, and BI firms can get it too
This isn't about greed, this is about honesty, if someone is dishonest why would, you want the, as an employee.
And salary should be based on market for the role not previous salary
Just go to adp ( I'm assuming pwc uses that) and download your pay stub.
Haha
That's illegal in Massachusetts
It wasn't about employment verification - it was about salary verification
I appreciate this deloitter that just comes out of the woodwork with a "That's illegal in Massachusetts" and just fades back into anonymity. Seen it said before
Let it ride. If they ask about a discrepancy, tell them your recent pay increase hasn't yet become effective.
Oh smart man. Thanks pwc
I am fairly sure HR won't tell them a damn thing.
U go thru a staffing agency? I'm surprised corporate recruiters still do this, such a shitty practice
Why hide your salary?
I agree A2. It was totally out of my character but i got really pissed off when I saw my colleagues lie and be wildly successful because of it. I have been underpaid for years given my level of education, work experience, performance reviews etc. I don't think that anyone is paid based on their value but rather how they negotiate. So i tried it out this way simply because I saw it work so well. I have years of experience, an MBA, industry certifications etc. and a young 24-26 kids that lied through their teeth make more money than I do. It finally got under my skin enough I guess. Not the right way to go about it, however.
I think you can get an employment verification without pay information.
