I had an idea at work for something the firm could implement to streamline some services. I talked about this with one of the partners. She said she would take it to the others and see if it was something they were interested in.

Another partner just emailed me saying they had an idea (my idea) and then assigned me the project to complete. 😂🤬🤬🤬

I’m currently interviewing with a few top 10 firms and a couple top 100 firms for a mostly remote experienced associate/new senior role. Does anyone have any tips on virtual interviews and how to gauge the culture of the firm and if it really will be a good fit for you? I’m struggling to figure out that out because I used to gauge it on the feeling I got while in their office during interviews. Any suggestions would be helpful :)

So, the CDC removed the Covid guidelines. I’ve never had Covid. I’m afraid people will come into work not wearing a mask and be inconsiderate… ughhh so distracting and disgusting. I’m also at risk to develop complications. Not sure if I should talk to HR. Not even sure if I should ask for accommodations to continue being able to wfh at least most days of the week to reduce risk. Idkkkk 😩This is so unprecedented. I always wear my mask at work. When, or if you set time aside to take care of yourself or do something for yourself, what do you do? I'm realizing I don't really have any "healthy" ways of relaxing outside of work, so drop whatever you got. It's starting to affect my personal life and I'm worried I won't be able to have healthy relationships unless I can take care of myself first.

When do you think associates are usually let go in small practice groups that are currently being overwhelmed with work? Is it when it starts to slows down or when they already have a candidate to replace you? Just trying to figure out how long I have after annoying a partner 😂.

Do you ever feel like there are rooms you’re locked out of? I’m a black woman, i lateraled to my group a few months ago with minimal onboarding and welcome. A white woman joined recently and everyone has bent over backwards to make her feel welcome and get her integrated into the group. People have invested less in me and it’s going to show in a few years when she’s up for partner and I’m still catching up.

This bowl was originally created for black attorneys in big law, but since it’s the only bowl for black attorneys, many black attorneys in other sectors have joined. Some people are apprehensive about starting another bowl for all black attorneys because it will take away from this bowl. Assuming that the conversations & topics will stay the same, What are you thoughts on keeping this bowl solely for black in big law verses Opening this bowl to any black lawyer?

My office is having a barbecue at one of the supervisors houses. It starts at 4 pm. what time should I show up? Social norms say arrive 30 minutes to an hour after a party start time but it’s since it’s a work party, what is the social norm for social work events?

I am an unmarried working man in his 30s with a southern mother.
