I had to Google whether or not fish frys are still a thing because I can't remember the last time I heard of one or went to one. Apparently, it's not a matter of any importance here in Charlotte ... what about in the rest of the US? Do you still get to go to fish frys or has this culture completely ended?

We have them during my family reunions in SC. We fry fish at cookouts in DC but we don’t call them a fish fry.

There are places around me that do crab boils more than anything, and those are really good! I do remember growing up fish fry or a Friday fish special was posted on restaurant signs all around town. Definitely something I haven’t thought about in a long time!

Omg! This was my childhood. And they would have all the sides and 7up upside down cake 🤤

We always went to family gatherings, but as people got older (I also moved away when I got older but recently came back) I don’t think anyone did it anymore. Sad.

Philly has some good fish frys! I still go to them occasionally but it's hard to come across them as compared to even a few years ago. Could be that the culture is slowly coming to close... I sure hope not.

My church still does these, I have not gone - but I will this lenten season!

Honestly I haven't heard of them happening much either but I used to love going to them when I lived back home. I live in the South now and it seems like crab boils are the big thing around here.

LTC has held up decently well. Any reasons why?

Hi all. I am trying to determine if I am being compensated fairly. I am a tax manager (about to start my second year as manager) and have been with EY since staff 1. I was promoted to manager in June 2020 (during covid) and received a 7.5% raise. The class above me has mentioned they received much higher raises during their promotion years. My base salary is now approx. 97K. Any insights would be extremely helpful. Thanks!

Small firm (my boss, me, & a paralegal). After a hearing I did not handle, boss intended to seek review of the ruling in its entirety. What was communicated to me by paralegal was to seek review of a portion.

Seeking review is now time-barred. Boss is not upset, but this is 1 case & 1 problem. There are other cases & other stories.

How do I talk to my boss about being more present (boss is never in office, has “too many” emails, never answers his phone) without being seen as insubordinate?
