I’ve seen this happen once, and it actually turned out okay! The client was a billionaire business person, he and the associate he worked with ended up getting married and she quit to do whatever billionaires do. So the key question here is whether the client is a billionaire.
Was she the quiet and shy type, who was actually really pretty when she wasn’t wearing drab oversized clothes, and had a certain something that was undeniably compelling when she walked into his office the first time?
Distance yourself immediately
There are rules of professional responsibility applicable to this situation! 😂
Fun fact-this is not against the rules of professional responsibility in every jurisdiction. In my state there’s no prohibition against sleeping with and/or being romantically involved with your client while you’re representing them. Two partners at my firm ended up marrying former clients.
You can be romantically involved or you can be the clients lawyer - not both. Lincoln Lawyer has a good episode on this.
Is Microsoft your client? If so, go for it!
Absolutely distance yourself. Please. Trust me.
I’ve met in a client in person maybe 10 times in 6 years. I don’t really understand this.
Chief
Different areas... I meet with several clients in person every day of every week. Not a day goes by im not meeting clients in person and they are all different
How do you think it would go if you were direct about it? Say you feel like there’s something between you, and either the air needs to be cleared and y’all need to focus on a professional relationship, or they need to find another lawyer and y’all have dinner together.
This has to be a bit….
If it’s not worth the potential loss of your license, stay far away until the case is absolutely 100% over.
Stop being their lawyer start being their lover
There are so many fish in the sea. Just cast the lure elsewhere
Distance immediately. The Devil does not rest. Temptation will always come but you need to protect yourself.
Ewww
YOLO
Refer out the representation and then see where it goes
I would fire the client and admit the chemistry!
