I have a job opportunity question! I currently work in private practice firm and have a chance to possibly change it up. I am intrigued in working for my State Public Defender Office. The pay is the same (possibly better) and the benefits are INSANELY better... so Pros/Cons? Any advice or something you suggest I think over? TIA!

More job security in the public sector, benefits make a huge difference. Might be stressful working in the public defenders office, but depends on the work you’re currently doing and what you’re used to. Public sector probably last to be replaced by AI

I used to enjoy my job (family law) and my prior employer was wonderful and appreciative...we were on the same page with all cases. My current one is honestly dreadful (family and EP) - but he never includes me on things so I am at a complete loss of client files and cannot effectively do my job. He unfortunately is also very outdated and still relies on paper and tape dictation which significantly slows us down. It has been on my mind to find a place where I can properly apply my knowledge and expertise again. Not to mention, the benefits here are quite lacking. I feel like it could be the right move for myself and my family, but am always the over thinker. Thank you so much for your insight! :)

It’s this terrible feeling of like anguish/unease in my gut, but I don’t have anything I’m worried about- it’s like my body wants to find something to worry about.

Hi everyone. Is it typical for the attorney to take credit for the work a paralegal does? An example: I gave some ideas about deposition questions and some observations I made (I was asked about giving suggestions) regarding a witness and the attorney mentioned that he’s the one that had these great questions/observations. Zero credit or thank you for the work I did.

What is the average paralegal salary in NC for a commercial real estate law office? I’ve been with a great firm for the last 9 years but am starting to wonder if I’m being compensated fairly. The company is about 30 employees (mostly attorneys) but I work primary for 4 of the attorneys.

So I’ve been with a court for a while and honestly the pay sucks compared to what paralegals should be making… the benefits are great though and they match my retirement 100% now that I’m vested at 3 years.I have 4 kids and 1 is getting ready for college. I feel like the benefits are great but I’d rather make more now. I am a previous LEO for 4 years who switched to paralegal so I have my leo retirement. Paralegals here make $28 with no benefits what is a good compromise

(1/2) I started a new job less than a month ago at a large firm with a significant pay increase. I work remotely- which is a special arrangement. They paid for my travel to their headquarters for in-person training. After interacting with my manager and some of the attorneys, I feel like I made a mistake. Manager is demeaning and rude. A bunch of the attorneys dropped not so subtle hints that people who work from home are causing all kinds of problems. I don’t know what to do.
