Is it just your ear lobe? Which state? FWIW I’m a southwest asian man with 4 ear piercings and a nose piercing and have never had problems in California big law. I also think ear piercings are quite standard for women…
Earlobe. Northeast. Unfortunately anything more would completely dox me lolol
Piercings in general shouldn't matter, but I know that isn't the world we live in. I think you should be fine with earlobe piercings. I think it also depends location (CA might be more chill than NY for example), the overall vibe of your particular office, and the partners you work for.
Do I think you would be fired for having piercings? No. But if you work for a particularly old school/traditional partner, they might just not like you as much and they may be more inclined to mentor and give work to other associates who fit their mold. That being said, I feel like law firms have really relaxed over the years and younger partners don't care nearly as much about piercings and tattoos.
A lobe piercing shouldn't be a big deal. I had two in each ear when I started at my firm (in NYC). I got helix piercings as a senior and it didn't matter either (though I did have lhai4 long enough to cover them for court).
And obviously not endorsing colorism, but the reality is if you're light-skinned people won't be nitpicking your appearance the same way they nitpick darker-skinned peers
It won’t!
