I have been looking for work recently in London, after being made redundant from my previous company, however the journey hasn’t been easy at all. I require visa sponsorship by the end of this year to continue to work here and even though I qualify for the new entrant Visa Category, it has been very difficult. Moving from a boutique (<30 employees, MBB competitor) to the strategy practice of a Big 4. Have only worked for boutiques in the past, so I’m expecting there to be some major differences in terms of working style.

What are the major differences and ‘watch outs’ you would point out to me? Could be anything from culture, to red tape, to compliance etc.

I love the work, but I'm feeling hella burnt out on internal politics. Disappointed that so many who are supposed to be leaders can be so petty and un emotionally intelligent.

We have limited vacation days but “unlimited” sick days. A coworker is constantly forecasting no vacation and then using sick days to take vacation and tells us after the fact. Is this wrong to do?

So I’m in industry from big 4, and a colleague with same yoe comes from MBB. High paying tech firm. I think I work harder and produce quality content at speed, but they can hold executive conversations that tend to impress senior stakeholders.

Big 4 produces work horses and MBB produces leaders. Also they could be a work horse too since I don’t have full visibility.

Anyone have similar experiences or do I just suck at executive stakeholder management?
