I have been working in this company for 6 years now and proved my worth after multiple lay off's on the company happened and not once I was included. I am thankful for it, but right now I am thinking if they really value what I contribute. Furthermore, I am not comfortable asking for additional compensation, but I know I deserve it. My job is at least for 3 to 4 people and I handle it all by my self. What do you think I should do?

Not sure if you are underpaid. Highly recommend you look at the salary ranges for similar roles at similarly sized companies to figure that out. Also, be realistic about this rough job market.

like

I can say that I am underpaid because, I have 2 other colleagues, we have the same compensation. But I cover most of it. My Immediate Manager don't handle Escalations and Manager calls, I do them. So I think, that is the reason I can say I am underpaid.

To add. I handle 2 chat channels, email tickets and phone calls. All escalation, retention, billing(customer facing) and billing internal. I assist Sales and Engineering team while ensuring all automation and processes are working. Am I underpaid?

like

I hate to tell you this but chat channels, email tickets and phone calls and escalations and retention along with billing. Those are at least 3 to 4 different roles. The reason that you’re not getting paid more is because you’re not asking for it. I understand not wanting to rock the boat, but you are gettingunderpaid. In a typical 30 day month, how many tickets do you open and close for escalations for chat and email and phone calls? And are you the only one who’s doing it?

I would absolutely start documenting all your stuff and be ready to ask for a raise once the new budget comes in in January. If you guys go through performance evaluations, I would absolutely be ready to have that discussion along with a new title.

100% look for, find, and get offers from another company in the role with the $ you deserve. If you like where you work - before you accept take offer basics back to them and tell them “another firm” has offered you a role with $x salary and you are considering taking it and seek their feedback only. If you are of value you will find out very quickly as they will match both title and $. If they won’t you have your answer. Move on. I guarantee you they do not actually care about you as much as you care about doing a good job for them - and that’s the hardest lesson after 20 years of experience in all sizes and types of organizations - public private and govt. Look out for YOU first and always.

Should I Go Back and Reneg? Recently I was offered a role as a Project Implementation Manager (In Retirement Services) .The salary range for Colorado residents was 65-89K. I’m located in NY so the recruiter said he would try to get me more. Ultimately he came back at 90K which is a bit inline with that I was seeing on Glassdoor but approx looks like I may leave 10-12K on the table. I accepted already but may get an offer from another HR company in account management around 90-100K. Need advice

Started a new job a year ago, high performer. My manager suggested a promotion to Product Manager since that‘s the work I’m doing, but that would be a 50% raise. Higher ups decided instead to make a “new role” (not PM), that has no analog in the company and is hard to price via Glassdoor, etc. I feel like this is to limit my promotion salary to something like 10% from where it currently is. Is there anything I can do? FWIW: I have a PhD from top 5 program and am working in that field. Thanks!

How can I know I'm getting the best salary and not just settling at the low end of the range?
