Speak with your coworkers and ask them to give KT. Record the sessions.
Even coworkers don't know anything
Because of a firm that you have decided to work 8 hours for you are willing to give up the rest of your life. You need some tough love.
Stop here if you feel like a snow flake and can't handle strong words.
If you are reading on, I assume you want to work in it.
Then let's set some context, I have been in a situation (a different big 4) where I was thrown headfirst into a project, didn't understand (let alone meet) the expectations of the manager, had poor guidance from the team, remained on the bench for two months after first project and received a comment on my 360 degree review from a senior manager saying "I shouldn't be a consultant".
8 months later I was laid off. If any of this is similar to you be prepared for a drastic action like this happening to you if you don't course correct quickly.
How to improve your life?
1. Get the requirements as clearly as possible, after every call with the manager/client send a Minutes of the meeting. (In addition to covering your ass it will help set context if they deny something later)
2. Most consulting firms require you to work on proposals, reach out to as many managers in your non utilization time and get to know them and work on proposals. This will take time and is an irritating work to do but will help establish a foothold.
3. Start revamping your resume, do a skills audit, fill the gaps by working on your professional self.
4. Learn to pushback to tasks given to you, you have to work 8 hours regardless, sometimes 10 but anything more and it's playing with your life. You have to set strong boundaries. You might be the only one in your team who does that but it's a necessity.
For more, book some time with me separately, this is all the free advise you get from me. Anything more and you will have to pay me.
Start looking out for other opportunities. In tata companies managers are very supportive and no toxic culture at all. I was in a same condition in Travelex, after 6 months i gave up and resigned without having any offer in hand and while serving notice period I got 3 offers. I joined tata because of its work culture.

Hate to break this to you but this is the normal work environment in any big 4. The environment is highly competitive and most of the time you think you have more work you can handle. I have worked in big 4 for years and trust me when i say this “it gets better”. By that i don’t mean you work will reduce, you’ll just get better at handling it. Big 4s make you do a lot of things and you’ll appreciate it once you start looking for opportunities outside.. when i left big 4 i was selected to be in a position and at a salary where usually requirements were 10 years more than what i had.
I know it doesn’t feel like it but this job is jump starting your career. I would recommend staying (either switch teams or move to another bog 4)
That being said. Consulting is not for everyone. If you honestly feel that you can’t handle this job, Switch.. do it asap because things are really going to be the same.. its you who has to change.
PS: be happy you’re not working at KPMG 😂
Haha yeah.. KPMG just buries people with work
