I think imposter syndrome hits us especially hard in this industry. I wouldn't take it so personally and just understand that it's part of the territory. I've been a nurse for over a decade and I still feel this way all the time.
It took me the better part of two years working to feel like I could call myself a real nurse. There's just so much to learn, not only about the profession but about your hospital or office specifically. It's totally normal to feel that way. Just give it time and keep showing up, asking questions, watching what the experienced nurses do around you. You'll keep picking things up and one day that imposter syndrome feeling will vanish and you won't even notice it.
I’d say somewhere between the 1- 2 year marks but also your support system on the unit plays a huge part and I started in a unit with a super helpful team that always asked if I needed help and were always open to question; not everyone starts with that environment so it may take a little longer. Still had instances of imposter syndrome over the years in new situations or especially when switching to new units/ fields. I do believe that everyone experiences this though!
