I joined Cognizant 8 months ago, and despite performing well and meeting expectations, I received a rating of 2. I was informed that this rating is based on an HR policy applicable to new joiners and not on performance. I would like to understand if this is correct.
Any one of you please clarify the impact of this rating on my job security, compensation, bonus eligibility, and opportunities for future project allocations?

Its due to normalisation what my senior manager informed me. And as per him there is no consequences for this as its first year and due to normalisation

Yeah a lot of new joiners got 2 rating. I joined last year March. Performed well, got client appreciation but was given 2. Seems like its decided by upper management

I think you’ve been lied to, even if you’ve joined just 4 months ago, you’ll get ratings as per your performance, KPI metrics . I’m not aware of such HR policy in the picture
This won’t have a major impact on your job security as it’s just been 8m but continuously if you are getting 2 then it might be a problem
And bonus will be affected badly. And are you currently in an active billable project?

It's been 10months now for me,and in the year end Rating I got 5 and it mainly depends on how you manage work and have good communication with the team and the management. I was mostly 10-20mins late to office but had good rappo with the lead and team and complete the work and go when ever I want. And mainly I had zero quality issues in the work which gave me this rating.

There is guardrail for new joinee. HCM can not give below 3. So if you are new joinee then you must have 3 or above. You have been given 2, it means HCM has rated as 2 or it might be part of normalisation

I have been given 2. Informed like as part of normalisation it's been given 2. Wow very nice politics. In feedback description , I have performed very well and given 100%. So it's difficult to survive nowadays. Can't expect anything from anyone.

I don't think it's true , even i joined in June and got 4 rating based on performance. If they say HR policy ask to share the documents.they are not confidential

There is no point fighting now, I guess

Would it be difficult to get a job in IA if most of my experience has been auditing private non-404 asset mgmt funds? I really enjoy process walkthroughs when I have them though. Also, does title matter that much in IA? I’m a manager now, but based on job descriptions it looks like I might have to go for a senior auditor role because audit manager roles generally call for 8+ years from what I’m seeing. Can title be negotiated?
