I keep seeing job postings that say entry level but then ask for three to five years of experience plus certifications. Are companies actually hiring true beginners right now or are those postings just unrealistic wish lists? Trying not to get discouraged but it feels impossible to know which roles are genuinely worth applying for.

I recently joined Swiss Re at 30lpa, pretty good manager and work culture. Got a hike of 10% in 3 months without me asking for it. Are there certain firms that are more accepting of Tax backgrounds entering advisory positions? I’m a CPA with a couple years regional tax experience looking to transition to advisory/deals, but have struggled getting big 4 advisory interviews even with solid recommendations.
I’ve heard there’s solid opportunities in advisory type work for some other large firms outside big 4. Has anybody made a similar transition?
