I just got back from Portugal! If you enjoy lively neighbourhoods, alfama district in Lisbon is absolutely beautiful! You might need an entire day there. There are so many restaurants within alfama - try local cuisine. We just landed up in places where there is a crowd - assuming it’s a local favourite and we were not wrong. If you like palaces and history - go to Sintra! We also took a three hour train ride to go to albufereiera (Algarve) - to visit the caves and took a boat trip in the Atlantic to watch dolphins. We only had 5 nights so that’s all we could see. Enjoy Lisbon. It’s beautiful
If you’re there for 2 weeks. Definitely make it up to Porto - more authentic Portuguese culture and food. Also go to Sinatra which is a quick train ride out from Lisbon
Thanks! Have Porto and Sintra on the list. Was hoping to go out dancing / clubbing 1-2 nights
Rick Steves just had an NPR/PBS broadcast featuring Lisbon last weekend. Check it out.
