I’m on week 4, billed 60+ last week. Send help

Oh no, 4 weeks? I'm on Week 1 and this isn't giving me hope. Lol. Opposite problem though - my firm/group is slow, slow, slow (part of why I'm looking to lateral, among a host of other reasons).

Firms vary so much. I had one clear in 8 business days and another in like 3 weeks.
Depends on workload and staffing of the conflicts team. Lateral clearances are less of a priority than clearing new matters. So, depending on busy the conflicts team is with reviewing new matters and how many prior matters of yours they need to check, those are just some of the variables that play in to how long it takes.

Also, seems like the conflicts teams dont care/realize that hiring partners often want a new hire in by X date, but if they dont get the conflicts done quickly enough, theres very little chance candidate can actually make X date work on their end with notice period and usually a week or two in between.
trying to dodge getting staffed on new deals and slowly going insane, yep
