Depends on your state but in Texas there is no negotiating. Everyone gets the same.
No harm in asking show your worth. The worst thing they can say is no.
I agree with this. I have always said that no matter what, you try to negotiate. The worst they can say is no, and you don't want to leave any money on the table.
If you move to a state that is more teacher friendly you will earn more.
I negotiated for my salary when I was a first year teacher I stated all the reasons why I felt I deserved more money. Do you have past experience in education? Make sure you let them know that.

If there is a union, the salary schedule is set. They can pay more, but not less. That being said, I’d tread lightly, as there is quite a supply of Social Studies/ History teachers. Look for additional positions in the district that pay a percentage if the base. Do a great job and someone’s eye will see you. Let us know how things go! Congrats on your new job!!

Hello I am graduated and wants job from home like online typing data entry
Salaries are usually set at districts. In Texas, only private schools and charters ever can do anything with Salaries. And that's only when they are desperate, or you have a unique skill set/resume.
I say this not to be mean or crass, but if you just graduated, and/or this is your first gig, and/or the market for a HS social studies teacher is anything like in texas, be glad you got an offer.
Just remember, the number 2 person on everybody’s hiring list is still unemployed. Second, it doesn’t take much to get rid of somebody in their first year. Be grateful for the job, but if you start making too big a stink, you may find yourself doing this again next year.
My district will start new teachers on later steps if they come with experience from another school. Typically it needs to be a public district they’re coming from. We don’t increase steps for people that come from private or charter schools.

They will if they need a particular cert. Promise!
It depends on the subject or ‘critical area’ is what our district calls it; could be a certain teacher certification, or ancillary services like speech, social work, psych, OT etc
Can’t hurt to ask, I’m sure they deal with that ask frequently
Move to CA. Yes, the COL is higher, but the pay is way higher and more competitive than neighboring states. My district starts a 1st year teacher at $71k 🤷♀️

No such thing as a teacher friendly state. They are all friendly. Now, if you have a certification they need, the districts become even friendlier……
Hi Being a fresher strongly suggest you not to demand too much at the very beginning of your career. Just request your principal to increase ur pay. Meanwhile if u have any other secondhand choice ready to join immediately you can talk regarding increased pay tothe mentioned Principal. If no other way just join to gain experience atleast for a year. After a year u can ask again, if he neglect your request, gently bid bye and join somewherelse. Wish you good luck
Act smartly according to the situation Take care.
