I left a role with a toxic boss, and now every interview feels like walking on eggshells. I’m so afraid of ending up in the same situation that I’m second-guessing every new opportunity. Even when the job sounds great, I’m hyper-analyzing every little red flag. I’ve tried asking about culture, but the answers always feel rehearsed. How do you vet company culture during interviews beyond the usual “what’s the culture like here” question?

Most jobs suck in some way. No one deserves to work for an incredibly toxic boss, but if you dig for reg flags and run from the tiniest sign, you'll never work again. There comes a point where you have to take the chance.

The simple answer is that you can't really know what it's like to work in an organization until you've done it for a while. And if you land on a team with a difficult personality leading it, there's really no way to guard against that ahead of time. All you can do is ask about teamwork and collaboration and company culture and all that, but until you're at your desk you won't really know how things will play out.

I am sure it doesn't help, but I feel the same way. I struggle with trusting my gut anyway, and my recent supervisors did not help!

I joined a new consulting firm and have been here for 6 months. Recently, a SaaS client (1k employees) that hired my old consulting firm reached out to me about a job opening - Lead BA working primarily to implement their benefit admin system for insurance companies. My current TC is 95k. Is it worth making the jump if the offer is north of 110k? Anything I should look out for? The client and coworkers were all nice, but I remember being stressed on the project due to limited resources.

Recently relocated to USA. Looking for a job in Private equity Accounting in California as Fund Accountant Manager. Any leads and also, how much salary should I expect?

Just found out that end of the year I will be promoted from analyst directly to VP and since it’s such a large jump I’ll be the lowest paid VP in asset management at only $135k TC. Should I stay it out and wait for TC to align or take the promotion and jump ship bc I will likely get paid more elsewhere given how recruiters/other companies eat up hiring recently promoted ppl from other firms?

Is there such things as FP&A positions in Big 4? If so, are there better times to make the change than others (I.e. at senior vs manager)? I’m currently in FP&A and looking to work at a Big 4, or another company that offers the ability to move abroad. My current company and many others I know about do not offer the mobility to do so until much later, which is not what I want. Thank you.
