I miss the days when, at the end of the day, I would say good night to those I worked for and one particular attorney would not only say good night to me, but would always thank me for my help for the day. Appreciation goes a long way.

Those attorneys still exist! You just have to find the right ones.

My attorney tells us all good morning and good night and thanks us for our work. They do exist.

My last boss and current boss didn’t and don’t say good morning, good night, thank you, or actually acknowledge me in any way throughout the day other than through email regarding tasks and status. In fact my current boss in my interview said don’t expect me to say good job or give you a “gold star” when you’re doing your job and what’s expected of you. Like what? I didn’t say anything to provoke that comment. So weird and sometimes very frustrating.

At least he let you know who he was in the interview. I wouldn’t work for that dude.

How can the attorney you work for make your life easier, make it easier to do your job, make you less stressed?

uplifting

Has anyone dealt with a lack of praise from attorneys? I'm not someone who needs to hear "good job" all the time, but we just got a huge deal closed that I worked really hard on and had a lot of overtime. And once it closed, the lead attorney praised the other attorneys, and said nothing about me or my work. I might just be overly sensitive, but it kind of stung. Thoughts?

What is the average paralegal salary in NC for a commercial real estate law office? I’ve been with a great firm for the last 9 years but am starting to wonder if I’m being compensated fairly. The company is about 30 employees (mostly attorneys) but I work primary for 4 of the attorneys.

I’ve been a paralegal for about 30 years in private law firmS. As I get older, I feel like it’s time for a semi-career change. Either an office manager position or perhaps a corporate position where I can travel a little since my kids are grown and I’m an empty-nester. Has anyone made this type of transition? Advise welcome. Paralegals: My firm is looking for a paralegal, and I see the job posting advertising the salary as $65-$75k, with benefits. Is this a good salary for a paralegal (Greater LA area)? I’m not the decision maker, but it’s been a few weeks with very few applicants. I’m curious if there’s something hurting the firm in its search.

I did it! I got an in-house Paralegal position after years of working and being burned out at different law firms. I was going to leave the legal field all together because I was so burned out and depressed, but I decided to give the field one more chance if I was able to go in-house. Prayerfully, this transition will be a good one.

Where do you find the time to get everything done in the day when you have multiple partners, associates and equity partners that interrupt you and want things turned around immediately while simultaneously working on deadlines? I feel like I’m the only one that can’t manage a 70+ case load without letting someone down. I constantly have to say “Can I do this tomorrow?” Etc. I don’t even have time to bill on the clock. I work until 7p at least every night. Top 10 family law firm.
