I need some advice..... my manager is not an advocate for me. She often speaks to me and writes to me in a condescending tone. She's very dismissive to my ideas but always takes credit for them when they go over well. Lastly, I could say today would be perfect if the sun was out and she'd say I was being negative. I've tried to talk to her, I spoke with HR and I have even tried to stay out of her way. Nothing is helping.... what would you do? (I think I should mention she's also a black woman.)

Is it ethical for HR leadership to make false statements about an employee’s commentary or behavior. For example, if an HR lead said, “John has given us an ultimatum. He’s leaving the company if I don’t move him from your team,” when the employee never made such a statement. Feels wrong to me as it could negatively impact professional reputation. But maybe this manipulation is just the way of the world.

How do I be a decent manager to a coworker who's upset I've been promoted twice in two years and they haven't? We started out as coworkers, became decent friends after a few good moments, but went back to simply coworkers after they flubbed a few projects and I had to step in to clean up.
