I once answered an email at 1 AM and got praised for being “a go-getter”
Wasn’t ambition. Was anxiety.
But that reply set the tone for months of late-night expectations.
Never again.
When did you realize your boundaries needed boundaries?

Was the email sent at 1 AM or you responded at 1 AM ? You raised the bar on your availability haha. I always set boundaries before starting a job

That's a good suggestion. Actually, schedule it to be sent during work hours!

When even the beta blockers and the Zoloft can’t provide relief. Making my exit plan and upskilling (even further) to give me the best shot possible in a brutal job market!

Once got an email at midnight to align a column in a spreadsheet a manager was reviewing. She was reviewing multiple spreadsheets and apparently she wanted a bunch of columns aligned and sent them to me as urgent. I had already done weeks of work. This is the moment I realized the advisory service line I was in was a waste of time and left. I’m still in consulting..

Same manager later had a nervous breakdown and made me go to lunch with the CFO of our client alone 5 minutes before lunch ( I was an associate 1 year into practice) . I had to drive the CFO and my car was a mess because I was not prepared ( had traveled 5 hours that morning to the client site). Needless to say the practice and office was a mess.

When a client called my cell phone outside of my working hours, my manager felt I wasn't busy and would be able to help them because I was on holiday.

Boundaries should be part of a college curriculum, some people genuinely lack that skill and have no problem crossing others’ limits.

What's the biggest lie a professor told you at college?
I studied journalism and I had one professor who always talked about how ethic we should be in order to pick the news to write about.
I've been working as a journalist for years and I've never gotten to decide the news by myself lol

Hi Everyone,
I have a query. Not sure if this is the right forum for it, but let me just ask it here.
I have completed my B.Tech. on 2020 and got a job in an MNC with a 3.8LPA, but due to COVID, the onboarding was delayed to Feb 2021. During this time, I had enrolled myself for a distance M.Tech. degree.
I recently joined a new company with a 10.1LPA a month back.
Just two weeks back, my M.Tech. degree is completed.
Should I have some increment in my new company as to my M.Tech. completion?

I am a traditional reservist so I never really used military benefits before, but could use advice here.

I am currently renting and my lease is not up until October 2021, however I found a good deal on a home and scheduled to close in June 2021.

My landlord will not work with me to end the lease early, so it looks like I will have to double up on rent and mortgage through the summer.

If I went on active duty orders, can I use those orders to break my lease early without penalty?

Hi , I recently started preparing for " data analyst" course. I have masters degree in computer science and 2 years experience as business analyst. Currently I'm on a career break of almost 7 years and trying to get back into IT as a data analyst now.
I started doing a course on coursera " Google data analytics certificate " . I'm not sure how to get back into job market. Please suggest any courses or road map to entry level data analyst jobs?

I have 5 YOE in Analytics... always thought I wanted to be a DS, but every job (even the junior ones) required experience in ML development. Though I am part of the ML project, I'm not the person develop the model. And I have a hard time when the interviewer ask about how I develop the model and what hyperparameters I tuned. I know the thought process and stuff but 'I' wasn't the one who did that part in the project. How to convince them that I could do the job without taking credit of others.

I’ve got about 20 years cross channel experience in marketing, split between big brands and startups, and I’m considering pivoting into a data science/data analyst role. I know it will initially be a step back in comp but is it at all realistic for a person with certificate level experience in data analysis but a decent marketing management background to expect $150-200k comp or is that mostly for degreed candidates (or not realistic at all)? Any guidance here is greatly appreciated.

Appreciate the input in advance.
