Hello!
I finished my final round(s) for a TAM position at Google (GCP) last week and was told by my recruiter that my feedback was great and that I made a solid impression on the team and am "firmly in the running". I was supposed to hear back this week (according to the recruiter) but he just told me that it's still in the process and that I'll have to wait for another week or so.
Is this common at Google ? I have heard they are notorious for being really slow with their hiring process.

You could try asking to be more involved in the DS projects at work. Tell your supervisor that you’re interested in developing those skills and could even start small like being included in the DS meetings for projects, etc. Coupling that with a course from udemy or Coursera, I think you could have good enough experience and knowledge for at least the junior level positions
That’s tricky.
You could mentioned that you assisted with ML projects even though you didn’t lead them? You could also try doing a project in your free time and posting it up on a GitHub. You can take a lot of project examples from Kaggle. This would show off we skills and make you better prepared for those questions.
I recently transitioned from an analytics role to a more data science focused one. I had a similar problem with not getting a lot of the data science titled roles I applied to because I didn’t have experience. I even had just finished a part time masters degree in data science and built out a portfolio with projects. I ended up getting an Advanced Analytics role instead that incorporates data science in it.
So overall, if you’re searching for jobs with data science in the title , maybe look beyond that, and also look at any projects you can do to build out your resume. Goodluck!
