I picked up a new gig selling Hexaclads at a Costco. It's been very nice to shift from my previous retail job to a more customer-facing job because I was really missing social interactions. But I've realized how soul-crushing sales can be. You get rejected more than you ever have been in your life, and on a daily basis. I think it's growing new skin on me and teaching me some very important skills. What is something you least expected your sales job to have taught you??

The power of resilience. Not just in bouncing back from rejection, but in maintaining optimism and pushing myself to put genuine effort into each customer interaction. It also taught me to read people quickly, spot buying signals, and adapt my pitch in real time, which turned out to be invaluable far outside the workplace.

Focus less on the sales part and more on the relationship-building part. Especially doing something like that, nobody, or at least I highly doubt it, walked into that store planning on buying what you’re selling. So you're already kind of behind the ball in that. Doesn’t mean you can’t or won’t, just understand what you are working with.

Good on you for getting out of your comfort zone. Resiliency has been the biggest life skill sales has helped me develop. Learning to pick yourself up and keep going after experiencing rejection after rejection is really valuable.

Sales can be very rough. I always tell myself each no is one step closer to a yes. Keeping a positive mindset really does make a difference.

Anyone else in “I’ll do my job description and nothing more” mode? I’ve gone above and beyond for my company for a while, and all I got was my quarterly bonuses and remote work taken away without explanation. My company blames my generation for not being able to hire everyday. “You guys don’t want to work” coming from some overweight, racist, old coaster. I’ve barely taken any days off this year and pick up “skeleton crew” days any chance I get. I was able to work out a deal with my company before I came because of prior experience luckily, but they offer a terrible base salary and sham of a commission structure to new hires + no remote. Then sit here and can’t figure out why…

I left my job about a year ago to relocate, make sure it was the right decision and start a side business in the mean time. Now I’m actively looking for a new sales position, have tons of experience, but am struggling to even get a response from job apps. I am wondering if this is because of my employment gap? I don’t have my side business listed on my resume because I don’t feel like I have enough positive “stats” to report yet given it’s new. Any advice or recommendations?

I had a job interview for a role that I really want. The hiring manager scheduled me for an interview and did not show up. Emailed me an hour later stating that he got super busy and couldn’t attend, and would like to reschedule. This is a major red flag, but I can’t help but feel that I am missing out since this role pays 50% over what I currently make. Should I let the recruiter know? What’s your take on this?

Hey everyone, I'm in the process of searching for a new sales or account management role particularly focused on mid-size or enterprise B2B sales positions and I’m also open to relocating. My back ground includes; 3+ years of quota carrying experience with a focus on consultative/ solution-based enterprise sales.

If anyone is currently hiring for a position within their company or is able to offer a referral. I would appreciate any help!
