The power of resilience. Not just in bouncing back from rejection, but in maintaining optimism and pushing myself to put genuine effort into each customer interaction. It also taught me to read people quickly, spot buying signals, and adapt my pitch in real time, which turned out to be invaluable far outside the workplace.
Focus less on the sales part and more on the relationship-building part. Especially doing something like that, nobody, or at least I highly doubt it, walked into that store planning on buying what you’re selling. So you're already kind of behind the ball in that. Doesn’t mean you can’t or won’t, just understand what you are working with.
Good on you for getting out of your comfort zone. Resiliency has been the biggest life skill sales has helped me develop. Learning to pick yourself up and keep going after experiencing rejection after rejection is really valuable.
Sales can be very rough. I always tell myself each no is one step closer to a yes. Keeping a positive mindset really does make a difference.
