Many companies refuse to pay decent salaries for employees but have no problem paying higher consulting rates.
Remember that consultant is getting any benefits and has to pay all the taxes. As for hiring a close friend not the best look but I’ve seen it more than once.
I’ve contracted for probably 2-3 times what full time employees were paid so again it’s not uncommon.
$50k-$60k hasn't been market rate for software development in the US for 25 years. At some point you had to make the choice to do the work for that amount of money. Your recourse is to leave a negative review for the place on Glassdoor and move on with life.
Yeah well that's pretty much exactly what I did. I guess what I'm asking is , is it worth reporting to the NCUA or would they just dismiss it?
