Hi All!
I am currently a Senior Software Engineer(Backend) with 4 YOE. My current CTC is 21LPA (All Fixed) with additional Yearly bonus. I got a call from Google (Pune/Bangalore/Remote) for Software Engineer - Backend. I have the following doubts but any insights are welcome -
1. Does the lower designation offered make any difference?
2. Kinda ambiguous, but what kind of hike or ballpark pay can I expect?
3. Any similar interviews experiences or focus areas I should prepare for?
Hello Guys,
I joined Cognizant recently, the project interview calls which I am getting is not from my base location.
I have the location constraint, should I wait for the right opportunity or raise this concern to ADP team so they can look in to it?
As per ADP policy, one should not have any constraints and take the project as FCFS basis.

I have noticed that happening more and more, just not hearing anything for a job applied for.
Ironic, given that it's easier than ever to contact people. Even a courtesy email would suffice.
Often in my district they have someone in mind before going thru the requirement of posting a job.
What I don't understand about this is there is such a teacher shortage. You would think you could get a job easier. However, most districts already picked who they want. They just have to interview a certain amount of people to make it look good.
There is not a teacher shortage. There are just places that people want to teach, and places they don't. There are few incentives available to redistribute the teaching candidates we have.
As a past school administrator, I would definitely call the district and ask for an exit interview- especially since you interviewed for multiple positions. This shows the district that you are responsible for following up (unlike them) plus if you do speak to someone , they may provide you with helpful pointers for following interviews.
Thank you, good advice.
I don’t get that. To me it is just common courtesy to contact someone and say, we decided to go in another direction but thank you so much for thinking of us. I really think in some cases it is a generational thing. A lot of adults these days were not raised on sending out thank you cards. It drives me nuts!
Same here, but with a doctorate. Been in that cycle since 2018.
I chose Special Ed because I knew I would always have a job. There are different job sections to special ed:
Mild/Moderate - lack foundations of reading/math
This could be 1:1 or small group pull-in or pull/out K-6 or a whole class 6-12 graders
Severe/profound - cognitive functions Teaching basic/ functional skills of recognizing street signs, eating, folding, washing hands, taste, hygiene …
Medically fragile - this varies from walking, standing, tube feeding, touching, tasting, recognizing images, letters, words, - coordinating with service providers, OT, speech, etc..,
Deaf/Hard of Hearing
I will always have a job because parents chose Life!!
I was with friends for lunch this past Friday. One person told us that her husband went for a very decent buy-out last year. It was a local district near ours where he was a high school math teacher. He retired in June 2025 so last school year. That same district had a massive layoff at the beginning of this year. 🤦🏻♀️
It really makes no sense other than the districts feeling the pinch after federal money was taken away in October. It’s a very weird time in education
while i have no defense for why the schools didn't at least send you an email saying they were going in a different direction, i think a poster here was onto something. the federal gov't just cut a ton of title 1 finding for schools that the schools may have been counting on. once that was budgeted, they may have suddenly saw that they no longer have those open positions available. or someone with seniority who would have been let go claimed those jobs. that happened here in minnesota this year. i was one of the lucky ones who kept his job, but saw a lot of support positions for next year be cut. i've also seen a lot less postings for open positions in the past month-month and a half. and now the federal gov't wants to cut title 1 even more!

Sheesh. All I hear about is how we don't have enough teachers. You sound like a no-brain hire based on what you said so that sounds pretty weird.
If you hear of a district that has a shortage of teachers, it means:
1) the conditions don't support teachers: low salary, no admin support, no parent support, cost-of-living issues, lack of collective bargaining
and/or
2) extreme disorganization on the part of HR
No well-run district has a teacher shortage.
Hi, It's not you. I've been in education and special education for over 10 years, and there has been a shift within the past 3 years in staffing for education. You can say that maybe COVID had something to do with it, but I do believe that there are other issues, all related to money and politics.
I'm going to suggest that you keep moving forward. Yes, interviews are somewhat different. You'd be surprised by what can happen between the time you have an interview. I felt the same way, later found out that the person who interviewed me left the job. You have no way of knowing what happened. However, I got a call from the person who stepped in and had to catch up to where everything was in the process. Also, it depends on the notes the interviewer left regarding your interview. You may still get a call. I also want to say, districts are not playing games or just going through the motions. They do not have that luxury. It's not so much politics, it's about the uncertainty of budgets and additional funding. You are certainly qualified, can they pay you close to what you should be paid? Experience is valuable along with how your interview actually went. Did you close the deal?
