I recently had an interview where they asked if I’d be willing to skip lunch for urgent cases, then followed it with a “we all do it.” I get that it’s healthcare, but basic boundaries still matter right? Is this crossing a line for you, or you wouldn't be bothered?

Basic boundaries matter. So too does telling interviewers what they want to hear. Being asked this in an interview wouldn't give me a warm fuzzy feeling about working there, but I'd say "Yes of course!" just to keep from torpedoing my chances of getting the job.

Lol

Honestly, the “we all do it” line always feels like pressure dressed up as team spirit. Boundaries matter, even in healthcare. If leadership doesn’t respect that, it’s a no from me.

like

I would say, yes, of course! But that was surly inappropriate to ask, because legally one is entitled to a lunch break.

like

Yes boundaries matter. But so do labor laws.

like

I wouldn't mind skipping lunch, but does the company automatically take your lunch time off the clock for every day that you punch in. Because if it automatically come out of you work day, then you can't skip. So always ask

like

I would definitely ask them that if you are required to skip a lunch due to the work that needs to be done. Would you be compensated for your time? If they say no, then definitely I would personally not choose that company.

Usually not bothered.

I work in a dermatology office as a MOHS nurse and I only get lunch maybe once a week, out mornings routinely go into our afternoons. So breaks and full lunches are non excistant to our surgical team, the down time we have we are catching up on notes and phone calls

Schedule better

Don't worry. It will be few and far between, if at all for a non management position.

For a good job....skip

How do i find out if I will be happier divorced or more unhappily staying married. 2 kids; 2 & 4 YO. They don’t hear the arguments after bed time and don’t understand the bruises yet but I know it’s just a matter of time. It would be so much harder not seeing my kids everyday than living with the pain, loneliness and lost friendships. But I’m tired. And so sad. Lost. So alone. After 6 years of temporary contracts and unstable situations, I find my dream job in my dream company. All of a sudden the world goes upside down and I get laid off. I start sending hundreds of applications, with only 2 recruiters getting back to me to say I don’t have experience for the job (this is how it works in Italy). Add a terrible health situation in my family and it seems there’s no light at the end of the tunnel. Ugh. 😞

Good morning!

Still trying to figure out this whole Fishbowl thing, so here goes my first post.

I would love to get into provider credentialing, but all employers I've looked at want at least 3 years of experience. So, I'm looking at Provider Network Coordinator roles, because I'm finding some of those roles don't need AS MUCH experience. I'm a RHIT, and have been working in healthcare for nearly 10 years.

Any input on employers is appreciated!

Hello, I’m currently looking for a non clinical position in the Charlotte area, more in the public health field. Does anyone have any referrals or info on any jobs?

I'm an RN of 7 years, experience as a coordinator, on committees and do all the things. But now I just don't want to go to work anymore. I have anxiety every morning over nothing, just having to go perform my job. I could do my job in my sleep so I'm just lost and confused. My body is clearly sending me messages to leave. But where do I go? I think I need to step out of patient care.

Any WFM nurses out there? Better work-life balance??

I just accepted an offer in writing. The new job will start the background check next which I’ve been told it may take a while to complete. My start date at the new job isn’t until 2023 so there is some time for me to turn in my notice. I don’t anticipate any hiccups in the background check but is it wise to wait until the background check is complete before turning in my notice?

So I say this with complete humility and an understanding that this is a fortunate-ish situation to be in. I’m in a position where I am tied to nothing, I have no children, spouse, or house. My job, which I’ve loved until some recent significant leadership changes, is sucking the life out of me and I think it may be time for a change. Because I am able to “pick up and go” I’m open to opportunities and locations. I’ve never worked with a recruiter but was hoping I could get some recommendations!
