I recently started a new job. I received some training. However, the job is very complex and requires in-depth training and knowledge. For the most part, I’m left on my own to self-train. If it makes sense, the job is so complex I don’t even know what questions to ask in order to perform ‘some’ of the most important tasks. My boss does not want to be bothered with questions. However, there’s no way I can self-train myself on some of the critical tasks. Is this something to discuss with HR? Thx.

Hearing this is just sickening. Who hires these managers or the HR! ?
I am sorry you are dealing with this. I hear this from so many admins, overworked, burnt out and underpaid, and yet expected to move mountains. Onboarding for admins is a joke at most organizations because they just pummel people with work day one. Additionally admins is not a specific focus job, it's a culmination of many things so multi-tasking is actually a bad thing. I wish this would change but it doesn't.

I would definitely start with HR and mention that you need actual training in order to perform certain parts of the job.... we have all been there I'm sure and it's overwhelming!!!

Been there done that! Assuming you have an HR department to go to absolutely. However, I would start searching for something else. If that's the beginning of your career there it's only going to get worse.

I just recently started a new job also and working remotely which I love. However, I have a very lovely lady training me on dynamics 365 finance accounts payable and I am so overwhelmed..... she's so nice and knows the program but she goes a million miles an hour. ..its so messy and all over the place...nothing in writing....and I'm only a few days in and dread tomorrow..... ugh. I really want to love this job and I'm sure I will eventually, but right now I'm sooooo overwhelmed.

Advice and/or consolation anyone? My wife and I (both above average health 30year olds) were trying for 11 months before getting pregnant and then had a week 5 early miscarriage a few months back. If the stress and surprise of just how difficult it apparently is to get pregnant wasn’t enough, the miscarriage put us over. We got back to it and have been trying for the last 2 months again, still no luck. We’re freaking out… all we want is a family. Any similar stories? Advice? 😢

There are so many major issues in this company that I don’t know if I want to subject my mental health to this degree of toxicity. I just don’t know how to move forward from here.

How do you manage your money?

I only bring in a little over $2,600 a month. After paying all my expenses, I get to put away $500 a month in savings but don’t have much wiggle room for anything else, including going out money.

I’m very privileged to have a significant inheritance and zero debt of any kind. I really wonder how my peers who have student loans, car payments, and even children manage to pay their bills and live so comfortably. Please share if this is you!
