I’ve put myself up for L4 promo this cycle. Assuming I get it, what would be the best next steps to optimize for long-term growth/TC?
My understanding is that L5->L6 is extremely painful at Google. It may be easier to leave for a handful of years and gain managerial experience before returning.
L4->L5 is less challenging; however, I’m under the impression I can do this quicker at another company (if I leave after being freshly promo’d) AND get higher TC.

anyone hear back about APMM program offers?
I got a remote L6 SWE offer at Google but the RSUs are too low for that level ($625k over 4 years), could not negotiate it higher. I’ve accepted the offer but trying to be hopeful that I could make it more equitable in the future if I perform well. Are stock refreshers based on the initial RSU grant or solely based on performance? Google

There’s a way to pass it. Check Reddit. You have to choose the extreme answer for most everything. And make sure your answers align with basic decency. Avoid neutral responses, track your responses separately on Word to ensure you’re asking similar questions consistently, etc.
Yes I have received rejection emails from recruiters (from Indian external agencies) in the past.
Can you clarify what you mean by "external screen"? Do you mean your application ended at the resume stage, or you had an interview with an external party/tester that was unsuccessful, or something else?
I had passed the assessment a few months back when I had applied for another role. When I reached out to the hiring manager after I got the “not proceeding” status, they told me that it was out of their control as I didn’t pass the external screen. I am not sure what that means
