It’s who you know especially in this currently tight labor market, which is why firms and banks feel confident that they can treat applicants and staff like serfs with ghosting and below inflation salary raises.
A common thesis is the strength of the U.S. dollar for outsourcing, etc… truth be told, there’s a surplus of white collar labor.
Too many MBAs. The labor demand for them isn’t needed as technology improvement increases efficiency, which helps reduce the payroll needed at both that junior level grunt work AND more expensive early management roles.
The more software can do for you, the less people you need to hire to do that kinda work. Analyst and financial roles are exactly like that. Sometime’s, getting a different role opens the door to upward mobility and internal hire candidacy when financial based roles open up at that same employer
Nowadays over 60% off jobs posted are ghost jobs" that's really a big problem honestly I learned about this phenomenon through my daughter who is 24. Do a little research on that so maybe, you won't at least waste time applying for jobs, that are not really jobs.
Personally, my view is that if the US Dollar does not depreciate this year, you will see a lot of white collar layoffs and outsourcing take place in the US as the cost difference has widened significantly with some other countries.
That's already happening in banking/finance
