You're telling me 'BBDO Presents: The Breaking & Entering Glaze-O-Meter' is pay to play????
Agency spy used to be so great. A shame they got absorbed and killed
Breaking and entering media is great. And they’ve blown up recently. Two young guys run it. Independent from anything. https://www.instagram.com/breakingandenteringmedia?igsh=bGZ5czlnems5cDRj
I’m happy to see them find success but they’re not exactly a critical eye on our industry
OP, your point about the opportunity for new ad news outlets is valid, but you are wrong about the current ones being "pay-to-play".
I do PR for ad agencies and deal with Ad Age, Adweek, Campaign, etc. every week. OP, I can 100% guarantee you there is no "pay-to-play" in what they cover. They might tend to cover certain agencies or brands, and ones they are friendlier with. But I've been doing this for a couple of decades and never written a check, and don't know any PR person who has.
Note I did not include Little Black Book (LBB) and Shots above. They are completely open and upfront about being a member organizations, and only cover news from paid members. Those publications are different from Ad Age and Adweek, and because of their membership structure are held in much lower regard.
The ad revolution will not be televised. 🤦♂️
Lots of indie experts have started good podcasts. Kantar , WARC, system 1/ Effective CMO, IPA etc all have good podcasts
Who would do all the work? And how would they get paid? It’s an incredible amount of work to publish ANY type of periodical. I agree with the previous comments that nobody would pay for this.
